A influência histórico-social das louças brancas na Manaus Antiga: 1890 – 1950

Abstract

The research came from the need to understand the presence of a large number of white pottery in the archaeological site called Catedral. They are more than a thousand fragments rescued and more than nine hundred analyzed and marked, these being from different places, factories and techniques of production. Looking beyond the functional use of these pottery, we sought their symbolic use here to make inferences about the way of life and especially about the conviviality between different social classes in the old Manaus, from 1890 to 1950, when the city goes through periods economically and socially distinct. The historical and social survey allows us to rescue the individual and collective memory impregnated in the material culture studied here, thus enabling the visualization of a society behind the object.
